Taurus Gets a Facelift for Unveiling at Detroit

Not many but much. Designers had a tough time for and honored task of improving the Ford’s No.1 name plate, the 2010 Ford Taurus, for its unveiling during the Detroit Auto Show.

Redesigning it is like improving on Mona Lisa’s smile but designers got to do what they ought to do. The expectations for the new Taurus is very high and it is expected once again reign supreme on the market.

The Taurus is better termed as an aspirational car that is build on the highest of all auto craftsmanship standards.

The new Taurus adapts the three-bar grille famous in the European releases. The designers see it as a trend to for the next generation of Ford. The new Taurus appears to be bulkier than its older brother at first glimpse.

This new release from Ford has an air of elegance with its flatter roofline and more sculptured body panels which makes it very pleasing to the eyes.

The interior also gets some makeover with a new cockpit feel into it. The console is raised and gets the touch of gauges that looks like that of the Mustang.

The designing process for the new Taurus began about 2 years ago and the company explored its options using three dimensional virtual modeling.

Engineers promise better handling and steering of the new Taurus compared to its older sibling. It also gets six speed automatic transmission coupled with a V6 power plant capable of giving it around 262 horsepower.

The EcoBoost technology may also be an option once the car goes into production. Ford (fordcartalk.com) says the Ecoboost variants will dominate their line of cars by 2013.
